FS25: Ground Deformation – How it works
What is ground deformation?
When your vehicle deforms the ground, it means that when you’re driving, and it digs into the ground, like tire tracks and mud tracks, you’re digging into the ground.
So, how much or how little your vehicle will dig into the ground becomes very important. Also, what causes ground deformation, and how does it work? Does it stay there long term, or does it disappear in a while? Can we dig in the game? As you know, you can’t dig in the game, you can’t use a front loader bucket or excavator to dig, it’s not that kind of feature, so that’s not available in Farming Simulator 25. So if you expect that, don’t expect it. It will not happen now.
How long do the tire tracks stay
It’s similar to the regular tire tracks we saw in the previous Farming Simulator. As you drive in Farming Simulator 22, depending on your settings, if you have set it to the highest level, which means that the tire tracks stay the longest, you will see many of those tracks stay for a long time. So, if you’ve driven so far and done so much driving, they’ll eventually start disappearing and going away.
You can deform the ground at maximum depth, and weather conditions or soil type will not affect deformation. The most disappointing part is that if you deform the ground, save your game, and exit the game, the ground deformation will not be saved when you load your game save. The main reason is that there is too much data for a game to save, which massively increases the game save files, and optimizing it is impossible.
How ground deformation works
When your vehicle is deeper in the soil, it drives slower, so the more ground deformation there is, the more difficult it is for your vehicle to drive. What is more, when you have more weights, attached implement on the back or front weight is on, or towing a heavier load, you will dig into the ground deeper in proportion to how much weight you have. So a vehicle with no weight might drive over the soil, barely deforming it, but then you put a bunch of weight on that same vehicle on the same soil, and it actually will deform more. Just be aware that when the ground is wet or raining outside, you’re going deeper into the ground. Rain will make the ground softer, and you will dig deeper.
Driving in deformed ground
When the vehicle is dug into the soil, you feel it and cannot get it to drive faster. Depending on how much the ground is deformed, the vehicle accelerates much slower or won’t even accelerate beyond a certain speed. This makes the game super realistic!
Tire deformation
Another thing is that it will dig in more when you are moving. For example, when you make a turn with your vehicle in the mud, the tires will dig in because of the weight shift. You can use wider tires, which should help with your weight and will help you with the ground deformation. So wider tires have become more important in the Farming Simulator 25 game than ever.
