Slip No Grip v1.0

Slip No Grip v1.0

Slip No Grip reduces the Friction of every Tire in game. Default Friction is set for every tire at “1.60” (apart from one or two tires) which I do not like. I have adjusted every tire in game to a lower value.

  • All tires for Vehicles set to “0.60”
  • All tires for anything being towed set to “1.40” (Implements and Trailers, this is due to some Implements snaking too much when set to “0.60” and some Implements using “trailer” tires.)

How to use:

  1. This folder ONLY contains .xml for every shared tire in game and is NOT a mod that goes in the regular mods folder.
  2. This will change ALL tire grip levels.
  3. Make sure to create a copy of the original tires folder. data/shared/wheels/tires
  4. Drag my tires folder to replace the old and replace all files when asked.
if at any point you want to return back to default simply delete your tires folder then rename “tires_COPY” with just “tires”.

I hope you try this simple adjustment and give feedback.

FEEDBACK: This is actually a brilliant mod for gameplay. When you hit the brake, front wheels gets lock and stop. When you go reverse with full speed and hit the brake wheels get locked and tractor are slipping. I would like to see this on going forward too but i believe rear wheels are accelators so this wont be possible.

Is it only useful when there is snow or is it valid for all seasons?

Feedback: Great mod/idea, saddly i find it very slipery and when dragging something like a cultivator or something even with a decent truck and wide tyres with weights it just slides a lot. i wanted to change the values myself and realised how muich work it is. XD.

I was testing trelleborg tires with three challenger tractors hauling a trailer with 20k lime last night on a hill about 40 degree slope, used narrow, normal and wide. they all got about half way up the hill at a crawl of 2mph before losing traction and unable to recover. I put weights on the medium tires and the tractor made it all the way up the hill. tire files have weight configurations but to manually edit and test every one of them would drive me insane i think.
What I will do though is adjust the grip levels depending on width as it’s a little less work and would be worth the effort to get it right and have some depth of realism which I think default setting lacks.
You could if you want adjust the trelleborg tires (or your favorite tire manufacturer) yourself and just add 0.10 to the frictionLevel and test in game, you can use console command gsReloadVehicle to reload the tractor your sat in and test the grip levels on the fly without having to close the game or anything.
Could please let me know what implement and tractor you were using so i can see for myself?
Thanks for the feedback and I will do more testing and upload something a bit less slippy and hopefully a little more realistic when it comes to tire choice.

FEEDBACK 2: Mate you need to really lower this slipping values, because when its rained its gets harder and tires are not holding terrain most of time.

I tried the stonepicker on a flat and 40 degree slope in dry and wet and with some different tires and load weight, i couldnt get it to snake. can you tell me what tires you used? Thanks for sharing too.

      • freecarpetseller says:

Sorry for the late answer. I tried on nokian tyres first and after that michelin standart, boths are snaking but… challenger mt600 with a wide tires are not snaking.
