Renault Clio Williams v1.0

The Clio Williams was born in 1993 to serve as the basis for rally homologation and to celebrate Renault’s successes as the engine supplier for the Williams team in Formula 1. As the advertising slogan said: « You may blush with shame or turn green with rage, but it is a Clio that Frank Williams gave his name to ».
For this homologation, Renault had to produce the Clio with a 2-litre “F engine”. Initially, 4,500 numbered vehicles were planned. Due to its success, a second series of 2,500 was launched. In total, more than 12,000 cars were produced. 4,500 numbered examples were produced, and thanks to its sporting and commercial success, around 12,100 vehicles were eventually manufactured.
Furthermore, Renault needed to produce more than 2,500 examples of this vehicle in order to use it in competition.
In addition, this model was used as a safety car during Formula 1 competitions in 1996, as well as an exclusive version for Switzerland, the ”Swiss champion”.
Designed from a Clio 16S base, the Clio Williams benefits from numerous additional features: semi-bucket front seats, blue carpeting, a blue-faced gauge and numbered plate, a widened front axle, as well as gold-coloured Speedline rims, and it was only available in blue.
